Conservative Leader David Cameron pays a flying visit to Bolton

Mr Cameron made a flying visit to Bolton on Monday 5th January 2009 when he visited the Reebok Stadium in Horwich, where he addressed more than 1,000 leading members of the Asian community.

Mr Cameron said: “Bolton is a key battleground and we have some very good candidates in place for the next election including Cllr Andy Morgan for Bolton South East.

“I always enjoy my visits to the town and look forward to coming back here soon.”

The event was organised by North-west MEP Sajjad Karim, who greeted Mr Cameron on his arrival.

Earlier in the day, Mr Cameron announced that the Conservatives would abolish tax on savings for everyone on the basic rate and raising the tax allowance for pensioners by £2,000.

It was in response to Labour’s accusation last week that his party was adopting a “do nothing” approach to helping Britain deal with the current economic climate.
