We are fully aware that some residents feel that the speed limit should have been 50mph but ultimately it must be the safety of local residents that is paramount not the inconvenience to drivers, many of whom do not live in the area.
Cllr Phil Ashcroft commenting said "Parts of the A6 are very open but other parts are heavily built up. The speed some motorists reach in those areas is horrendous. There have been a number of accidents on the road and it is important to make the environment safer for people living there."
