Disgraceful Deception by Government - Home Information Packs

After months of spin and deception from the government that Home Information Packs would only affect homes with 4 or more bedrooms the government have today announced that 3 bedroom homes will also be require the Packs, which will cost between £400 to £600.

Protesting against the announcement Hulton Councillor, Andy Morgan, said "Moving home is already one of the most stressful experiences in life, yet Gordon Brown has persisted in introducing these flawed Home Information Packs against the better judgement of both consumers and housing experts."

"It's not acceptable that the government keep announcing piece meal legislation and today's announcement to include 3 bedroom homes, which will affect many more families in Bolton who are already starting to feel the pinch with interest rate hikes, is a disgrace".

“Labour’s Home Information Packs are nothing less than a home information tax. This isn’t about making it easier to get onto the housing ladder; it’s just a stealthy way of conducting Labour’s controversial council tax revaluation by the backdoor. You’ll have to pay the State to inspect your home - and help taxman hike your council tax bill. We cannot trust Gordon Brown and his government.  How long will it be before they announce that all homes, irrespective of size will require a Home Information pack?"
