Flying the flag for Armed Forces

Andy Morgan, Councillor for Hulton Ward, today welcomed Bolton Council’s efforts in marking Armed Forces and Veterans Week which runs from 21-26 June and aims to give respect and thanks to Britain’s armed forces of past, present and the future.

The Armed Forces flag was raised over the Town Hall on Monday 21st June at 9.30am when the Vicar of Bolton conducted a short service which finished with the National Anthem.

There will also be a number of events in Victoria Square including a display of military vehicles, a Bolton Cadet Challenge between Sea, Army and Air Cadets, a number of stalls and displays of medals. Entertainment will be provided by a number of acts including St Peter and Pauls School and CATs Amateur Theatre.

Commenting Andy said “As an ex soldier I know just how much it means to serving soldiers that their home towns and the country are thinking of them whilst they are carrying out their many varied duties.  A national celebration of this kind is welcome and I urge all Bolton residents to get behind the celebrations”.
