Peace at last from illegal motorbikes

Residents from Sunninghill Park, Beaumont Chase and Winterfield Drive areas will soon be reaping the benefits of measures that will prevent the use of illegal motorbikes on the footpath between the developments.

Cllr Andy Morgan, your candidate for the Local Elections on 6th May, along with your other Ward Councillors, have been working with local police officers to come up with a solution which will prevent the reoccurrence of the nuisance that residents have had to endure over the past few years and which has destroyed the peace and tranquillity of the area.

Andy said “We have been contacted by several residents complaining about the bikes and after discussions with our partners we have now identified funding to get the work done.”

It is intended to erect a “kissing gate” at the entrance to the path from Everbrom Road, also install gates to stop bikes getting onto the site from Newstead Drive, Salterton Ave and Knightswood and also erect a barrier and gate at the Turnberry end of the path.

Andy added “The measures that we intend to put in place will allow the law abiding majority to continue to use the pathway for its intended purpose.  The proposed changes will continue to allow walkers and families with prams and buggies to enjoy what should be an asset to the community.”

Work is expected to start at the beginning of May 2010.
