More needs to be done to rid the NHS of Mixed Sex Wards

Time and again, we have heard Labour Ministers boast about how they are within touching distance of abolishing mixed sex wards.  But sadly, the reality for thousands of patients is that they still have to suffer the indignity of sharing a room with members of the other sex when they are trying to recover in hospital.

Cllr Andy Morgan, Conservative Parlimentary Candidiate for Bolton South East, said "I have been campigning for years to rid the NHS of mixed sexed wards.  If we are going to get rid of mixed sex wards once and for all we need to focus on building more single rooms in NHS hospitals.''

"Unfortunately Labour have focused on buying thousands of extra curtains.  This is simply not good enough.  After 13 years of broken promises, many patients will simply not believe that Labour are serious about eliminating the scandal of mixed sex wards from our hospitals.''

"I acknowledge that the Royal Bolton Hospital have made some effort in addressing this issue but we still have a long way to go and I will continue to put pressure on the powers that be to bring forward proposals to address this issue as a matter of urgency.''
