Obviously we are all disappointed at the outcome of last weeks Council Meeting but we have to remember what it is we have actually achieved. The council had to listen to our arguments because they were measured, reasonable and valid and it is because of that they had to reduce the proposed take from green belt by two thirds from that originally proposed. That has only been achieved because of the campaign we all contributed to and you all should be very proud of that.
The fact that 200 people turned out to lobby councillors before the meeting is unprecedented. The fact that the powers that be had to, for the first time ever, relay the council meeting live into an adjourning room, was people power at its best. The fact that you along with everybody else within Over Hulton have acted as you have with measured argument and reasoning was fantastic.
The honour of representing you has been all ours and we have to say, having got over the disappointment, what we have all achieved to date is amazing. That said the campaign must go on. We have 6 weeks after Christmas to galvanise the community and to get everyone to lodge their objections all over again and we must all stay united because that has been our biggest strength.
We are currently putting together a leaflet to advise everybody further of the outcome which should be delivered next week but please feel free to forward this message onto those you think might be appropriate.
In the meantime can I thank you all again for you efforts and I be in touch again soon.
Onwards and upwards!
