Commenting Cllr Andy Morgan, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Bolton South East said The Conservative Party has consistently said that we wanted to work with the Government to find a consensus on social care funding, and we support a partnership approach that fairly shares the costs of care between individuals and the state. We hope that the Green Paper will finally set out a costed solution, based on the King's Fund's detailed work in 2006.
If the Government's paper yet again puts forward options without any costs attached, then the problem will be kicked into the long grass once again. If that happens, then the Conservative Party will bring forward its own proposal for the funding of long-term care.
Unlike the Government, we will set out a clear plan for change for both the providers of social care and the 45,000 people who are forced to sell their homes every year to pay for it.
