£5000 for Wally's Youth Club

£5000 has been provided from Area Forum Budgets to support the vital work of Wally’s Youth Club.  The Youth Club provides evening and weekend activities for the young people of the area.

Commenting Cllr Andy Morgan said “The work Wally’s does fills a massive gap in the provision of young peoples services that is not current being filled by the Local Authority.  This is an excellent example of partnership working between the council and a Voluntary Organisation.”

It is intended that during the summer holidays there will be 6 days outs and at least 3 nights per week of activities to keep the youngsters occupied.  Events planned at the club include a healthy eating project, buddy schemes to prevent bullying and cycle maintenance and proficiency course.

Volunteers will also receive training in Safe Guarding Children and Diversity.

In addition a £500 grant was awarded to “Dave’s 11” Rounder’s Team to buy equipment and kit for their numerous teams that also use Hulton Fields as their base

Commenting further Andy added “The more provision we have within the Ward for the kids results in the reduction of Anti-Social Behaviour which has to be good for everyone.”
