At last nights Council Meeting (28/02/07) Labour & Lib Dem Councillors over-turned a motion by your Hulton Ward Councillors to re-consider the proposed Traffic Calming Scheme for
Cllr Phil Ashcroft said We are not against some sort of scheme to slow the traffic down. We are concerned that any scheme which includes speed bumps will result in traffic rat running across from
Cllr Andy Morgan added "Labour and Lib Dem Councillors, who do not represent Hulton Ward and who are not aware of the issues facing the ward, voted together to force the scheme through. This is a perfect example of Labour and Lib Dems Councillors taking decisions about issues they know nothing about. We will continue to work with officers to come up with a scheme that hopefully will meet the needs of residents living in the whole area.
Cllr Alan Walsh, who moved the motion commented "This scheme is ill thought out and opposed by the Emergency Services and many residents. We will do all we can to influence this scheme so it will benefit local residents rather than the Labour and Lib Dems anti-motorist policys."
