Thanks to Cllr's Morgan and Ashcroft!

Thanks were greatly received from a Hulton Ward Residents with regards the reduction of the speed limit on Manchester Road (A6).

Mrs J Theaker, Reynolds Close, Over Hulton wrote to the Bolton News to thank Andy and Phil for their help with reducing the speed on this busy strech of the A6.

Mrs Theaker wrote:

"WITH reference to the story "Support for speed limit cut" about the speed limit on the A6, I can only give my utmost support and thanks to councillors Andy Morgan and Phil Ashcroft.

As for Leonard Russell of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, to describe the reduction of the speed limit as nonsense beggars belief.

In 1991, at the age of just 18 years, my son David was killed on this stretch of road. He was on his bike going to meet his club mates for a training weekend at 8am. The accident occurred when my son was hit by a driver travelling at 60mph (within the current limit), who swerved to avoid a postman leaving one of the houses in his van.

Mr Russell says motorists need to be trusted more - well, my son had no choice other than to trust these two drivers, and gave his life by doing so.Mrs J Theaker, Reynolds Close, Over Hulton".

Having read the letter Cllr Ashcroft added "It is always nice to receive thanks but I have to say that is what we are here for and we were only doing what we were elected to do, represent the residents of the ward.
