About Andy Morgan, your Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Bolton South East:

Personal Biography:

Andy owns and manages a Residential Care Home for the Elderly. His specific responsibility is for business development and he is responsible for all control systems and business processes, i.e. budgeting, accounting, pay-roll, recruitment, quality systems and Health & Safety to ensure the efficient and safe running of the home. Andy currently employs over 30 staff.

Before purchasing his own business he worked for 10 years as a Senior Project Engineer for British Aerospace in Saudi Arabia with specific responsibility for the Hawk Jet trainer and BAe 125 VIP Aircraft used by the Saudi Royal family. Prior to joining BAe Andy served for 5 years in her Majesty’s Armed Forces (Army Air Corps).

Most of his spare time is spent with his young family (three boys) and his partner Karen and they all very much enjoy the open countryside that we are lucky to have in and around Bolton.

Andy enjoys football (watching not playing) and he and the boys are avid Bolton Wanderers fans. He also enjoys skiing, the theatre, tennis and the odd round of golf.

Andy is a serving Councillor on Bolton MBC (elected 2002). He has specific responsibility for Health and is also the Conservative Group Whip with a special interest in Law & Order and Older People.

He is also the Deputy Chairman (Political) for Bolton South East.

Andy acted as the Media Director for Philip Allott at the 2005 General Election for Bolton West achieving a 3.5% swing to the Conservatives and coming within 2000 votes of ousting Ruth Kelly, the then Minister for Education.

Andy is a “Brand Ambassador” for the party ensuring that grass roots members are fully aware of the re-branding of the party and why, whilst also acting as an ear piece for Central Office passing grass roots member’s comments back to London.

Andy is also a Bolton Magistrate.

Campaign Information:

The good folk of Bolton South East have been taken for granted by the Labour Party for far too long and Andy is determined to offer them a local and credible alternative.

Andy will be running some specific campaigns to highlight such issues as Greater Manchester Police cuts, the state of cleanliness of our hospital and will campaign to ensure no further reductions to the current level of services provided at Bolton Hospital. Andy will continue to campaign to eradicate mixed sex wards at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Andy will also campaign to expose Labour’s neglect and under funding of the er communities that make up Bolton South East such as Little Lever, Farnworth and Kearsley. It is imperative that their individualism and separate identity is treasured and protected and Andy will campaign to do that.

Andy will campaign to free up police time and reduce beaucracy in the criminal justice system. Andy believes that the priority should be the protection of law abiding majority not the rights of criminals. When someone is sentenced to 5 years in prison then it should mean that they serve 5 years and he will continue to support the scrapping of Labour’s early release scheme.

Andy will also campaign to ensure that every child in Bolton South East, irrespective of post code, has the right to an excellent education.
